Freedom of Summer

As the Earth is starting to wake up, I can feel the anticipation of Summer growing. I’ve already started changing out my wardrobe and trying to find last year’s lost flip-flop. It’s funny, the older I get, the quicker time goes by, and the things events I used to look forward to, are now a source of anxiety! When I was a kid, it took for-ev-er for Christmas to come, and Summer Break seemed to last a year. Now, Christmas comes and goes in the blink of an eye, and Summer Break is 2.5 months long, exactly. One thing that hasn’t changed is my love of summer time: the sunburns, the long days, the boat rides, the smell of coconut, and bare feet.

A water-lover all my life, there is nothing like spending an evening out on the boat, watching my boys catch fish – then fireflys, or dipping for crabs under a full moon. I think boaters share the same free spirit. Our boats give us the opportunity to disconnect. There is no hustle and bustle out on the water. There is no clock ticking. The sounds are different; the smells are different. The monotony of the cooler months melts away and life takes on a new feel. A lighter, freer, feel; of course having the kids able to finally go outside and get out from under my feet could also be a reason… Living on the East coast, Maryland specifically, we are so fortunate to be surrounded by so much water. We can take an evening to get dinner at one of the hundreds of dockside restaurants on the Bay, or make it a longer trip down to St. Michael’s for the weekend.

I am really looking forward to getting this boating season started! I am also looking forward to getting back in touch with our clients! We have been lucky to gain some wonderful friends through Milbourne Marine and look forward to cultivating so many more! We appreciate you all and wish you your best season yet!
